Clinical governance

## How we vet our surgeons

Every ophthalmologist who operates at our Istanbul eye centre passes the same audit — complication rates, equipment certification, and outcome transparency. We reject partnerships that do not meet international benchmark standards.

### Complication-rate audit

Annual review of serious adverse event rates against ESCRS and peer-reviewed refractive benchmarks. Surgeons above threshold are not retained.

### Procedure volume & subspecialty

Minimum case volumes for LASIK, SMILE, ICL, and cataract. Refractive and lens surgeons are matched to the procedure — not generalists doing everything.

### Platform certification

ZEISS VisuMax and excimer certification verified. Surgeons must operate on the same platforms documented in your treatment plan.

### English consent & documentation

All consent forms, discharge summaries, and post-op instructions provided in English for international patients.

### Outcome transparency

Uncorrected visual acuity and enhancement rates tracked. Aggregate outcomes shared at quote stage — not hidden until arrival.

### JCI hospital standards

## Your day-case pathway

International patients typically spend one half-day in the hospital for laser procedures, or two days for bilateral cataract or lens replacement. This is the standard flow at our JCI-accredited eye centre.

English-speaking check-in. Pre-op drops and consent with your named surgeon or senior registrar.

### Diagnostic suite

Pentacam topography, biometry, and wavefront mapping confirm the treatment plan agreed at assessment.

### Laser / theatre suite

HEPA-filtered operating environment. ZEISS platforms for laser; phaco suite for cataract and RLE.

### Recovery & discharge

Post-op slit-lamp check, drop schedule, and discharge letter for your UK or EU optician.

## Surgeon questions

### When do I learn my surgeon's name?

After your eligibility check and review of any existing prescription or scan data. Your quote pack includes the assigned surgeon's CV, procedure volumes, and credentials — before you pay a deposit.

### Can I request a specific surgeon?

Yes, where availability allows. We confirm surgeon assignment and laser platform in writing as part of your treatment plan.

### Will I meet my surgeon before surgery?

Yes. You have a face-to-face consultation at the hospital on procedure day (or the day before for bilateral lens surgery). Consent is signed with the operating surgeon.

### What if I am not suitable for the procedure I wanted?

Our surgeons recommend the clinically appropriate alternative — or advise against surgery if risk outweighs benefit. We do not proceed with a procedure that is not right for your eyes.
